Pre-applied clamping coatings

Purpose of a pre-applied clamping coating

The aim of the clamping force generated is to prevent the screw from being lost and/or to fix it in a defined position.

Function of a pre-applied clamping coating

The clamping effect of a coating is achieved by the force generated by the compression of the coating material in the thread gap.

If a preloaded bond loosens, the preload loss may drop until the balance between clamping force and thread pitch torque is reached.

During unloaded assembly, the compression in the gap between the internal and external thread generates an axial and radial force that fixes the screw in the assembly position.

Tested in accordance with DIN 267-28, many clamping coatings can be reused several times.

Note: The clamping torque leads to increased screw-in torques.
