2. Collection and storage of personal data, as well as the nature and purpose of its use when visiting the website

When you visit our website www.precote.com, the browser on your device automatically sends information to our website’s server. This information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file. The following information is collected without any action on your part and stored until it is automatically deleted:

  • IP address of the requesting computer,
  • Date and time of access,
  • Name and URL of the file accessed,
  • Website from which the access originated (referrer URL),
  • browser used and, if applicable, your computer’s operating system, as well as the name of your Internet service provider.

We process the aforementioned data for the following purposes:

  • To ensure a smooth connection to the website,
  • Ensuring a user-friendly experience on our website,
  • Evaluating system security and stability
  • for administrative purposes.

The legal basis for processing is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Log file data is automatically deleted after [e.g., 7 / 14] days.

3. Disclosure of Data

Your personal data will generally not be transferred to third parties, unless otherwise specified below.

We will only disclose your personal data if:

  • You have given your explicit consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR,
  • the disclosure is necessary pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR to assert, exercise, or defend legal claims, and there is no overriding legitimate interest on your part that precludes this,
  • there is a legal obligation to disclose the data pursuant to Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR, or
  • this is necessary pursuant to Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for the performance of a contractual relationship or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures.

If we use external service providers to process personal data, this is done exclusively within the framework of data processing on our behalf pursuant to Article 28 of the GDPR.

4. Cookies

We use cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device and contain information that enables or facilitates the use of the website.

Some cookies are technically necessary to ensure the operation and basic functions of our website. These cookies are set automatically.

In addition, cookies may be used to statistically evaluate the use of our website or to optimize our offerings. Such cookies are set only with your consent. For more information on the services used and your settings options, please refer to Section 5 of this Privacy Policy.

Cookies do not cause any damage to your device and do not contain any malware. Most browsers accept cookies automatically. However, you can configure your browser so that cookies are not stored or so that you are notified when cookies are set. If cookies are completely disabled, the functionality of this website may be limited.

5. Use of Matomo

Provided you have given your consent, this website uses Matomo, an open-source software for the statistical analysis of visitor traffic. The provider of the Matomo software is InnoCraft Ltd., 150 Willis St, 6011 Wellington, New Zealand.

Matomo places a cookie (a text file) on your device, which allows your browser to be recognized. When subpages of our website are accessed, the following information is stored:

  • the user’s IP address, truncated by the last two bytes (anonymized)
  • the subpage accessed and the time of access
  • the page from which the user accessed our website (referrer)
  • which browser with which plugins, which operating system, and which screen resolution is being used
  • the duration of the visit to the website
  • the pages accessed from the subpage visited

Matomo is used for the purpose of improving the quality of our website and its content. This allows us to understand how the website is used and thus continuously optimize our offerings.

For evaluation by Matomo, we have added so-called UTM parameters to the addresses (URLs) of individual pages on our website. These UTM parameters provide information about the source of the visit to our website, the advertising medium used (e.g., ads on other websites, email newsletters, social media), as well as the type and content of the advertising campaign.

We also use the Heatmap & Session Recording modules, provided we have your consent to do so. Matomo’s Heatmap service shows us the areas of our website where the mouse is moved most frequently or that are clicked on most often. The Session Recording service records individual user sessions. We can play back recorded sessions and thus analyze the use of our website. Data entered into forms is not recorded and is never visible.

By anonymizing the IP address to six digits, we take into account the website visitor’s interest in the protection of personal data. The data is not used to personally identify the website user and is not combined with other data. The information generated by the cookie regarding your use of this website is not shared with third parties

The legal basis for this processing is your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG

Withdrawal of Consent
You can withdraw your consent to the storage and analysis of your data by Matomo at any time via the link below. A so-called opt-out cookie will then be stored on your device, which is valid for two years. As a result, Matomo will not collect any session data. Please note, however, that the opt-out cookie will be deleted if you clear all cookies.

You can also prevent the use of cookies by adjusting your browser software settings accordingly; however, we would like to point out that in this case, you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent.

We use Cookiebot from the provider Usercentrics A/S, Havnegade 39, 1058 Copenhagen, Denmark, as a consent management platform (CMP) on our website.

Cookiebot is used to obtain, manage, and document users’ consent for the use of cookies and similar technologies. For this purpose, Cookiebot itself sets cookies or uses similar technologies to process the following information in particular:

  • Your consent decisions (e.g., acceptance or rejection of individual categories),
  • the time of consent,
  • the anonymized IP address,
  • information about the browser and device.

The processing of this data is necessary to comply with legal obligations and to demonstrate compliance with data protection requirements.

The legal basis for the use of Cookiebot is

  • Art. 6(1) sentence 1(c) GDPR (fulfillment of a legal obligation, in particular under Art. 5(2) and Art. 7(1) GDPR in conjunction with § 25(1) TDDDG),
  • alternatively, Art. 6(1) sentence 1(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in legally compliant consent management).

Usercentrics processes the data on our behalf based on a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. Processing generally takes place within the European Union. Insofar as, in exceptional cases, a transfer to third countries (e.g., the U.S.) cannot be ruled out, this is carried out on the basis of appropriate safeguards within the meaning of Art. 44 et seq. GDPR (in particular EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

You can revoke or change the consents granted via Cookiebot at any time with future effect by accessing the cookie settings on our website again.

In the latter case, you have a general right to object, which we will honor without requiring you to specify a particular situation. If you wish to exercise your right of withdrawal or objection, simply send an email to contact.precote@surtec.com

9. Data Security

During your visit to our website, we use the widely adopted SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol in conjunction with the highest encryption level supported by your browser. This is typically 256-bit encryption. If your browser does not support 256-bit encryption, we will use 128-bit v3 technology instead. You can tell whether a specific page of our website is being transmitted securely by the closed key or lock icon displayed in the status bar at the bottom of your browser. We also employ appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your data against accidental or intentional manipulation, partial or complete loss, destruction, or unauthorized access by third parties. Our security measures are continuously improved in line with technological developments.
